The book Mediation for children – constructive conflict resolution for children aged 4 to 9 (kindergartens and elementary schools)
MATERIALS FOR TEACHING THE CHILDREN ABOUT CONSTRUCTIVE CONFLICT RESOLUTION, MEDIATION, AND COMMUNICATION SKILL DEVELOPMENT
'Mediation for Children' fills a void in the array of programs on constructive conflict resolution and mediation at kindergartens and elementary schools. This material is also appropriate for parents looking to work on development of social skills with their children, or to initiate conversation about constructive conflict resolution with them.
The materials can also be easily adapted for work with higher grade elementary school students and high school students.
THE BOOK IS AVAILABLE IN SLOVENIAN AND ENGLISH
We are proud to announce that in November, the book Mediation for Children will also be presented to the globally renowned actor and film director, perennial Academy Award winner Mr. Clint Eastwood.
The hard-cover book is printed in colour on a large 220 x 280 cm (8.7 x 11") format. It has 196 pages and it features many excellent illustrations.
The illustrations are conceived in a way that addresses the children's sense of humour; hence, some characters are depicted as caricatures.
Manual "School and Peer Mediation"
In their recommendations for education plans at Slovenian schools, the Ministry of Education and Sports recommended school mediation as one of the approaches for work with children as early as in 2007/2008. The manual School and Peer Mediation is the first publicly available material on mediation at school, providing answers for education professionals working at schools, regarding the implementation of school and peer mediation. As this manual is the first publicly available material of its kind, it fills a major void in Slovenian literature on school and peer mediation.
EXCERPT FROM THE REVIEW:
"The manual is a thoroughly thought out, well structured, and clearly laid out list of steps to be taken by a mediator. Hence, it is an invaluable didactic tool. It also emphasizes the professional concepts of pedagogic and consulting work at schools that the author finds the most suitable and effective. In this regard, the manual is also a reflection of these concepts. It is a helpful and comprehensive display of cooperation based on agreement and responsibility among all participants in the processes taking part at schools."
